My sister and I spent wonderful five days in Santorini, three of them in Oìa, one of the most famous villages of Santorini, a beautiful Greek island in the southern Aegean Sea. Our hotel, the Mystique Hotel, was only 18 km away from Santorini Airport and 20 km away from Athinios Port. The Mystique, Luxury Collection Hotel, Santorini is part of the international hotel group Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. We had a complimentary transfer from our first hotel to the Mystique. When we reached Oìa, I immediately fell in love with the white houses, blue church domes and cobblestone pathways. And I fell even more in love with our fantastic hotel! The Mystique really is a stylish property featuring several suites and villas, built directly on Oìa’s spectacular cliffs with stunning views of deep blue waters and the Aegean Caldera.
After the check-in we had a welcome champagne drink and were also presented with cold towels by the lovely hotel staff – so it’s no wonder that I felt like on cloud number nine right from the very beginning. With its fantastic design creating an aura of luxury, the hotel fits perfectly with the surrounding nature and the unique beauty of Santorini. But Mystique is not only an exclusive and beautiful retreat to relax and unwind, it’s also the perfect location for an enormous amount of activities.
Every day we started with an à la carte breakfast offering a great variety of dishes and delicacies, simply delicious! After my early-morning swim I often indulged into a relaxing massage or I enjoyed the breathtaking views from our infinity pool, overlooking the deep blue ocean. In the restaurant ‚Charisma‘ we treated ourselves several times to the great Greek cusine. The second restaurant called ‚Asea Lounge Restaurant‘ is famous for its fantastic sushi.
One highlight during your visit in Santorini should be a tour to the volcano and the hot springs organised by the super friendly hotel staff. Speaking of hot springs, the sulphur content of the springs is very high, so my advice is better to avoid wearing white swimwear whilst your visit. And here’s another special recommendation: If you have the chance you should definitely book Mystique’s suite number 16. This suite features not only a Nespresso machine, an iPod deck station and complimentary Wi-Fi, a private gym, but also an own jaccuzzi which I found incredible!
What I loved most during our stay in Santorini? Certainly the absolutely amazing sunsets! And luckily the Oìa village is known for Santorini’s best sunsets. So what could be better than having a sundowner and watching the nightfall’s spectacular play of colours? It’s really a magical moment when the sky is like an artist’s palette presenting the most beautiful colors you can ever imagine…
