I spent wonderful two days in Rome together with my boyfriend a few weeks ago. All in all we stayed five days in this fascinating city, where you can discover a historical building around every corner. I enjoyed the Italian way of life very much with the little bars and restaurants that you can find everywhere. We stayed for two nights in the five-star Hotel Gran Meliá Rome, which has a very central location.
The Gran Meliá Rome is a luxury hotel, which belongs to Meliá Hotels International ( MHI ). The hotels‘ interior design is very modern and it has impressive pools, where we relaxed a few times and got some nice suntan. We were very lucky, because we had just the best weather we could have wished for. The rooms and suites of the Gran Meliá Rome are outstanding. There are rooms, which have even a private garden or a private whirlpool terrace. For example, a Grand Premium double room measures 33 square meters, which is a lot of space for a hotel room. The most spacious suite is the Eternal City Suite Redlevel, which measures 125 square meters. The Gran Meliá Rome offers several dining options. There is the celebrated VivaVoce Restaurant and the casual restaurant Nectar Bar. Additionally, there are three bars, the Liquid Garden, the Library and the Nectar Bar. The hotel also has the huge Lunae Terrace, where exclusive ceremonies can be held and elegant events take place. We ate dinner in one of the restaurants, where signature dishes were served. We just loved these signature dishes and the food was excellent. It was an extraordinary experience to eat there.
The Gran Meliá Rome is located on the ruins of the ancient Villa Agrippina. It is just a five-minute walk away from the Vatican City and the St. Peter’s Basilica. This location is the perfect starting point, if you want to explore the Eternal City of Rome with its countless sights. The highlights of our tour were the impressive St. Peter’s Basilica, the St. Peter’s Square, the Vatican Necropolis and the Castel Sant’Angelo. We also visited the Forum Roman and the Colosseum, which were quite interesting trips to the Ancient Rome. We threw some coins into the Trevi Fountain, because we wanted to be sure to come back to this wonderful city again one day. It is a long tradition to do that, because it is believed, that you will return to Rome again. You can see thousands of coins on the ground of the fountain, if you look closely. For visiting all the historic sights you should get up early, because otherwise it will be very crowded there during the day.
The Gran Meliá Rome is a wonderful and modern hotel with an outstanding service. It is perfect for visitors, who want to be close to the Vatican City. You can do sightseeing trips through Rome in the mornings and in the afternoons, you can enjoy the sun at the impressive outdoor pool or you enjoy the luxurious Spa My Blends by Clarins.
