06th December 2017. Karl Lagerfeld presented the Métier’s d’Art 17/18 Collection in the Port in Hamburg, the Elbphilharmonie – an architectural creation by Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron. Our City got a wonderful new opera in the beginning of 2017. Exactly that was what Karl Lagerfeld drew to come back to his hometown, the architecture, to present his Métier’s d’Art Show in a vast modern concert hall that was built on top of Hamburg’s biggest dockside warehouse. I felt incredible honored attending my second Chanel Show.
Karl Lagerfeld’s previous #ChanelMétiersDArt Shows took place in Cities like Rome, Paris or Shanghai. This time in Hamburg. Kirsten Stewart, Lily-Rose Depp, Tilda Swinton and further international guests attended the Chanel Show. Guests received opera glasses, which they could use to either view clothing details or perhaps to get a better perspective at the finely dressed showgoers across the auditorium.
The Chanel Métier’s d’Art Pre-Fall Collections always pays tribute to an era in the history and craftsmanship of Chanel past and present. I loved the color range he chose, the crafted details and the work that stands behind this wonderful creations. An aesthetic overall collection that spoke directly to Lagerfeld’s roots. „Hamburg was always kind of discreet. It’s not a red-carpet city“ – Karl Lagerfeld said. „Hamburg people – they never showed how rich they were, but they were very rich“, he also said.
The Chanel Métier’s d’Art Show was outstanding. The guests were seated in the theater around an orchestra that played while the models walked.
Merci Karl for this wonderful Show!
